Deadpool 2 might be just days away from release, but the cast is already looking forward to the future of the Deadpool universe, will the X-Force film following the character introductions in the Deadpool sequel.

Earlier this month, producer Simon Kinberg stated he had spoken with Ryan Reynolds about a possible plot, but that they, "haven’t settled on who those characters are yet."

With Domino (Zazie Beetz) and Cable (Josh Brolin) joining Deadpool 2, some of the cast has already been rounded out, and now the Deadpool 2 writers have released some more information about the future team-up film.

"Drew Goddard's writing it and will direct it," Deadpool 2 writer Rhett Reese told Variety on the red carpet for the film's premiere. Goddard, who was consultant on Deadpool 2, has also written three episodes for Marvel's Daredevil and The Defenders on Netflix, as well as film's The Martian and the upcoming Bad Times at the El Royale.

"It's going to be a little while, but we took great pains to try to set it up in this movie at the end," Reese continued. "I think you’ll have some nice combination of those characters you see at the end of this movie forming X-Force."

In an interview with Collider, Ryan Reynolds commented on the future of X-Force and working with Goddard, stating, "I love him and he has such an interesting take on where he wants to take that world."

"I see it being a real ensemble on a lot of levels," he explained. "I think there’s a real opportunity to not burden the narrative by shattering Wade’s life, so then at the beginning of our movie you get to have him just be part of the team, which is obviously a very challenging prospect for someone like Wade Wilson."

"I’m excited about a couple new characters that we’re talking about," Reynolds added. "And I’m really especially excited to work with Drew. He’s just amazing.”

Deadpool 2 hits theaters this Friday, May 18th.
