Before Captain Marvel was named Captain Marvel, she was called Ms. Marvel and she sported a VERY different costume compared to the red and blue suit we are familiar with seeing.
Now that we know her as Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers' old moniker went unused until Marvel Comics decided to introduce a diverse cast and created a new miss Marvel, Kamala Khan- Marvel's Muslim superheroine.
The teen heroine is a fan-favorite and it seems like Marvel president Kevin Feige is looking forward to introducing her
"Captain Marvel's shooting right now with Brie Larson," Fiege said, talking to the BBC. "Ms. Marvel, the Muslime hero(ine) who is inspired by Captain Marvel is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we've introduced Captain Marvel to the world."

Muslims. Prepare to finally be represented. pic.twitter.com/SKFofLDmBt
This is technically not definitive, but if Feige took the time to particularly mention the hero as a project, it looks like Marvel is at least looking to not only expand the cast, but add more diversity to its superhero universe- and adding Kamala Khan would be such a huge stride for Muslim representation and young women, as well.
