Morena Baccarin is no novice when it comes to portraying comic book characters. She stars as Deadpool's love interest Vanessa in both Deadpool films, and portrays Dr. Leslie Thompkins in Fox's Gotham, a DC comics series set around Gotham's police commissioner Jim Gordon before the days of Batman.
Speaking with Cinepop about the upcoming Deadpool sequel, she was asked about whether or not she would want to play a superhero on the big screen, but she answered saying, "I identify more with the villains, like Poison Ivy and Catwoman."
Both characters currently exist on Gotham, where Baccarin's character is currently a villain as well, but there isn't an avenue in DC right now for her to hop onto a project involving either character. Possibly the Margot Robbie Birds of Prey spinoff, but that's a long way from having any information past holding onto a writer and director team for more than a couple of months.
With a lot of shake-ups and new avenues in Marvel and DC, we've had a lot of stars wanting to hop on board, from Tom Hiddleston interested in other Marvel characters to Michael C. Hall wanting to play Batman.
Until then, you can catch Morena Baccarin in Deadpool 2, opening next Friday on May 18th.
