El actor y productor de cine estadounidense Kirk Douglas murió a los 103 años y el mundo del cine pierde a uno de sus máximos exponentes.

Ante este hecho, no faltaron los mensajes de las celebridades, quienes a través de las redes sociales despidieron a la estrella. Una de ellas fue su hijo Michael Douglas, quien contó: "Con tremenda tristeza, mis hermanos y yo anunciamos que Kirk Douglas nos dejó hoy a la edad de 103 años […] Pero para mí y mis hermanos Joel y Peter, él era simplemente papá, para Catherine, un maravilloso suegro, para sus nietos y bisnieto, su amoroso abuelo, y para su esposa Anne, un esposo maravilloso".

It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103. To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to. But to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband. Kirk's life was well lived, and he leaves a legacy in film that will endure for generations to come, and a history as a renowned philanthropist who worked to aid the public and bring peace to the planet. Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad- I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son. #KirkDouglas

Por otro lado, Catherine Zeta Jones, también dedicó palabras de amor para su suegro: "Para mi querido Kirk, te amaré por el resto de mi vida. Ya te extraño. Sueña profundo...".

El actor Danny DeVito utilizó su cuenta de Twitter para despedir al actor: "Kirk Douglas. El inspirador Scalawag. 103 años en esta tierra. ¡Eso suena bien! Genial pasar el rato contigo, hombre"

Entre los roles más destacados de Kirk están los de Espartaco, en la película homónima dirigida por Stanley, y Vincent Van Gogh en “El loco del pelo rojo”.
