Author George R.R. Martin has been vocal about his ongoing writer's block while trying to conclude his last two novels, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring. This has lead to fans of the A Song of Ice and Fire series to simply speculate on a timetable for the next releases.

A Game of Thrones, the first book of the literary series, was released in 1996. Since then, every book in the inevitable seven novel series has taken longer and longer for their release. The latest gap, which was between the fourth book A Feast for Crows (2005) and the fifth and latest book A Dance with Dragons (2011), took an entire six years, and it has already been seven years since the last book hit stores.

With the massive success of not only the novels but HBO's Game of Thrones series, there has been immense pressure on the 69-year-old author. Along with this, Martin's health has been questionable, so it's a legitimate fear fans hold, that the legendary storyteller may not be able to finish the series before he dies!

One determined Redditor has predicted the release dates for these upcoming novels by statistically analyzing the original release dates vs the book numbers, which he concluded to accurately guess the dates within a 165 day margin. This is of course, purely speculation, but these are his findings. Click here.

The model predicts The Winds of Winter will be released later this year on November 21st, while the final book will take a whopping nine more years to be completed. This would mean the author would be 79 years old before completing his series.

Martin has suggested The Winds of Winter will likely be released either later this year or sometime before 2019 wraps up.
